We have employed density functional theory (DFT) calculations along with electrochemical (linear sweep voltammetry and impedance spectroscopy), spectroscopy and microscopy techniques to determine the chemical/electrochemical steps that govern water splitting reaction at the solid oxide electrolyzer (SOE) cathodes. These insights will be employed to design robust electrode materials for SOEs.
