FTIR was used to identify isolated amine sites as being responsible for the formation of weakly adsorbed -NHCOOH and NCOO- species on immobilized amine sorbents used for CO2 capture.  A fundamental understanding in the nature of CO2 adsorption sites could assist in the development of highly efficient amine sorbents.
