This research focuses on utilization of char from biomass gasification as a catalyst for tar decomposition.  Char has demonstrated catalytic performance for decomposition of methane, propane, and toluene. The char’s catalytic performance is attributed to its high surface area, presence of metals and minerals, and interactions between metals and carbon.
