Ordered mesoporous silica (OMS) supported Ta2O3 catalysts (Ta/OMS) were tested  for the production of 1,3-butadiene (BD) from ethanol and acetaldehyde. The catalytic results showed that Ta/OMS catalysts exhibiting a larger pore size, a high surface area, and a small particle size are highly active catalysts for BD production from ethanol and acetaldehyde.
