NO oxidation acts as a probe reaction to identify a dominant fraction of isolated Cu2+ ions in Cu-SSZ13 below Cu/Al = 0.2 and an increasing contribution from CuxOy (copper oxide clusters) on further increase in Cu/Al ratio. CuxOy species are the active species for NO oxidation.
