An Investigation of Sodium Promotion of Pt/Al2O3 for the Water-gas Shift Reaction by Isotopic Transient Techniques

By combining kinetic analysis with in-situ infrared spectroscopy (IR) and isotopic transient techniques, we show that enhancement of the WGS rate by Na on Pt/Al₂O₃ is a support-driven effect where Na provides additional water activation sites and enables nearly all surface Pt to participate in the reaction.
