Electroless deposition is an industrially feasible method for the preparation of Group IB-Pd bimetallic catalysts having proximal contact between the two metals. These catalysts have controlled active ensemble sizes for various modes of olefinic or acetylenic adsorption and have shown enhanced performance for selective hydrogenation of acetylene.
