A novel synthesis technique was developed to prepare hierarchical nanostructured ZSM-5 zeolites from protozeolitic units. This method involves a depolymerization of zeolites in glycerol to form organogels with short range ordering. The organogels are silanized and then crystallized. The synthesis uses less templating agent, and represents a greener zeolite synthesis.
