Gasphase emission energies for PdO are predicted to be ~40% higher than those of PtO2. Thus, (Pd,Pt) alloy catalysts are expected to significantly stabilize Pt against sintering through the gasphase.  Our preliminary results also suggest that alloying with Pd increases the lifetime of the monometallic Pt catalyst.
