O-Tu-Jon-4 Electrochemical Reduction of CO2 on Gold Surfaces

We studied the electrochemical reduction of CO2 on gold with enhanced sensitivity for liquid products. We detected methanol which had not been previous reported.  Our results are compared to predictions from DFT and we hypothesize a mechanism for the formation of methanol on gold.
