Solubilization of lignins in ethanol/water prevents agglomeration and opens up possibilities for catalytic valorization, for instance by liquid phase reforming over Pt/Al2O3 and a co-catalyst. Yield and type of monoaromatics depends on the type of lignin, process conditions and catalyst used. Catalyst stability is strongly influenced by the presence of lignin.
