Electronic Structure Engineering in Heterogeneous Catalysis: Identifying Novel Alloy Catalysts Based on Rapid Screening for Materials with Desired Electronic Properties

A theory of chemisorption on metal surfaces relating easily accessible physical characteristics of constituent elements in alloys to their surface reactivity has been formulated. The model can be used to identify critical physical features that characterize optimal alloy for targeted catalytic transformations and propose how these features can be engineered.
