P-M-Wil-3 Green Catalytic Conversion of Non-Edible Source Oleic Acid to Bioactive Azelaic and Pelargonic Acids using Molecular Oxygen

The oleic acid oxidative cleavage to azelaic and pelargonic acids was developed using molecular oxygen as an oxidizing agent over active WO3/CAB-O-SIL catalyst.  

        Acceptable yields of ~ 20 to 23 % for both azelaic and pelargonic acids were obtained at 150 oC with high conversion (> 95%) of oleic acid.
