The conversion of methanol to gasoline (MTG) is one way of making synthetic gasoline from raw materials such as coal and biomass. During the MTG process, undesired by-products are formed. Using experiments and calculations, we show that recycling of by-products improves the catalytic performance, stability towards deactivation and conversion capacities.
