A PtGa/Al₂O₃ propane dehydrogenation catalyst was prepared and compared with Pt, Ga and PtSn catalysts. The catalysts containing Ga were more stable then the Pt and PtSn catalysts. By using different techniques, including UV-Vis, Raman and STXM the chemical nature of the carbon species formed was studied.
