Staged autothermal reactors have been investigated as a technology to replicate conventional chemical processes at small-scales and short contact-times. Despite the complexities of zeolite systems in an autothermal environment, conventional analysis can be applied towards understanding dehydration, isomerization, and cracking reactions of biomass surrogates such as butanol and 2-decanone.
