Alkane hydrogenolysis rate constants reflect the free energy of transition states (TS) for C-C bond cleavage and the formation of gaseous H2 from equilibrated dehydrogenation.   TS entropies and enthalpies are described by statistical mechanics and linear free energy relationships to bond enthalpies and sterics interactions, respectively.
