Redox stability generally limits oxygen reduction reaction (ORR) catalysts to Pt-based materials. We identify Ag-based materials with enhanced stability when operating in alkaline environment and utilize density functional theory calculations to propose Ag alloys that show activity competitive with Pt.  These materials are then synthesized and tested to demonstrate performance.
