Single molecule measurements (SMM) with single turnover resolution allow the measurement of intrinsic kinetics of individual nanoparticles.  This study highlights the structure-activity relationship of a catalyst thereby promoting the development of highly active and selective catalysts.  Comparison of SMM with ensemble measurements helps in assessment of ergodicity of the system.
