Novel high-purity alpha alumina supports for EO catalysts with 60-75% porosity, 0.5-0.7 cm3/g pore volume, 0.6-1.2 m2/g surface area, and crush strengths from 10-20 lbs, were made without binders. They open a new frontier to design industrial EO catalysts with longer life and superior performance compared with current products.
