Three recent examples of synchrotron-based characterization techniques in the field of metal organic frameworks is presented: 1. X-ray scattering study of MOF crystallization process; 2. High pressure X-ray diffraction investigation of gas adsorption-induced “breathing” in amino-MOFs; 3. Determination of gas diffusion rates in large MOF crystals by IR microscopy.
