The reactions of non-oxidative dehydrogenation of ethanol to acetic acid were investigated using a Cu/SiO2 catalyst by characterization (TEM, EXAFS, DFT and XRD) and by kinetic studies. By combining the characterization and kinetic techniques, it was possible to give a more complete picture of the reaction mechanism.
