Metal-support interactions in iron based Fischer-Tropsch catalysts have been investigated by modifying iron oxide nano crystallites with tetraethoxysilanemimicking the strong-metal-support interactions. The strong-metal support interaction remains intact after reduction of the catalyst. It is shown that the metal-support interaction leads to an enhancement in the catalyst activity.
