NOx adsorber catalyst technology represents one of the major NOx abatement solutions for meeting environmental regulations for diesel-powered vehicles.   The role of rhodium is to catalyze NO reduction to N2 under reducing conditions.  We found that the efficiency of this process is strongly affected by the oxidation state of Rh.
