A novel nanostructured Pd2Ga intermetallic catalyst was prepared by controlled co-precipitation from a single phase layered double hydroxide precursor which transferred during thermal reduction to Pd2Ga nanoparticles. Excellent performance in the selective semi-hydrogenation of acetylene were found for this new promising class of catalytic material.
