The stability and reactivity of ε, χ and θ iron carbide phases in Fischer-Tropsch synthesis (FTS) catalysts was investigated as a function of relevant (high pressure) reaction conditions, by the synergistic combination of experimental (X-ray Diffraction/X-ray Absorption Spectroscopy/Raman) and theoretical (Density Functional Theory) methods.
