Tungstated zirconia are highly acidic materials that effectively catalyze a wide range of different reactions including alcohol dehydration, aromatic acylation, and isomerization of alkanes and xylenes. Herein we examine the mechanism for methanol dehydration, explore the influence of catalyst structure and surface WOx domain size and stablish structure-acidity-activity relationships.
