Commercialization of PEMFC requires less expensive electrocatalysts and higher operating voltage. Substantial anodic overvoltage with reformed hydrogen fuel can be minimized by using CO-tolerant electrocatalysts. The-state-of-the-art PtRu electrocatalyst is not attractive in terms of price competitiveness and this first study of Be-based CO-tolerant catalyst can widen the choice of anode electrocatalyst.
