A Ni-Sn and Ni-Ru alloy were found by DFT to exhibit enhanced sulfur tolerance relative to Ni, though only the Ni/Ru system also exhibited improved ethylene binding energy. A series of experiments were designed and carried out to in order to validate the results obtained from the theoretical calculations.
