P-Tu-114 Deactivation of Zeolite-Based SCR Catalysts by Precious Metal and Alkali Metal Contamination

Vaporization of platinum from Diesel oxidation catalysts (DOC) and alkali metals arising from biodiesel fuel have been shown to contaminate zeolite-based SCR catalysts and deactivate NOx conversion.  Improved DOCs with reduced precious metal transport and a need for lower biodiesel alkali metal specification limits has been initiated across the industry.
