Vaporization of platinum from Diesel oxidation catalysts (DOC) and alkali metals arising from biodiesel fuel have been shown to contaminate zeolite-based SCR catalysts and deactivate NOx conversion.  Improved DOCs with reduced precious metal transport and a need for lower biodiesel alkali metal specification limits has been initiated across the industry.
