Self-assembly has been used to prepare several heterogeneous catalysts with novel architectures: catalysts consisting of tetrahedral platinum nanoparticles for increase selectivity in trans-to-cis isomerizations, dendrimer encapsulated nanoparticles for well-defined size distributions and use in liquid phase, catalysts with mesoporous protective layers, yolk@shell architectures, and grafted chiral molecular agents.
