This work deals with the use of solid catalysts for converting aromatic ketones to aromatic olefins in a one-step process via tandem hydrogenation-hydration reactions. In particular, the liquid-phase one-pot synthesis of styrene from acetophenone is efficiently promoted using a mechanical mixture of Cu/SiO2 and zeolite HZSM-5
