Greener synthesis strategies based on the use of biocompatible cyclodextrins have been developed for the shape-control of Ag or Pd nanoparticles. After deposition onto TiO2, evaluation of catalytic properties in the selective hydrogenation of cinnamaldehyde shows that β-CD helps in strongly enhancing the intrinsic activity of the as-formed Pd/TiO2 catalysts.
