Using a short contact time transient isotope technique, we have identified kinetically important reactive isocyanate species in the NOx reduction by hydrocarbons. Confirmation that reactive isocyanates could be important in HC-SCR has underpinned the development of advanced catalyst formulations with commercialization planned for 2012.
