Wurzite zinc gallium oxy-nitrides developed by Domen's group are among the most effective catalysts for water splitting (QE2.5%). We have incorporated the same elements into a spinel crystal with higher surface areas, lower bandgaps and better activities for VOC oxidation and are currently investigating them for water splitting.
